Why we built Reddy

In 2019, after the Kincade Fire, PG&E shut down power to millions of Californians for days. That week, we realized something most people hadn’t: the grid isn’t just aging—it’s vulnerable. Not just to wildfires or storms, but to software bugs, supply chain gaps, and cyberattacks.

We dug deeper and were shocked at how fragile it all is. America’s power grid runs on SCADA systems—technology from the ’70s and ‘80s—that wasn’t designed for the world we live in today. It’s patchworked together, underfunded, and increasingly a target.

We didn’t start Reddy because we wanted to live off-grid. We started it because we have kids. Because we believe a few simple, local, resilient systems are just common sense in a world where the centralized ones are failing.

We built Reddy for our own yards and then realized other people may be interested in their own Reddys.

Reddy makes high-performance, modular microgrids that anyone can use—at home, on a farm, at a community center, or deep in the woods. They’re not just for emergencies. They’re for everyday power, made local and secure.

This isn’t about being a "prepper."
It’s about being ready. (see what we did there?)
